Usually our CVs list only our shining accomplishments and it can be hard to remember that everyone goes through some amount of failure before becoming a success. ALL of us have applied for grants and positions we did not get, or had papers rejected from journals. Melanie Stefan wrote a piece for naturejobs in 2010 about how keeping track of these “failures” can actually help others (available here), and one Princeton assistant professor, Johannes Haushofer, has decided to publish this CV of failures online for others to read – check it out in full in PDF form here.
My favourite part:
This darn CV of Failures has received way more attention than my entire body of academic work
